Gender equality is essential for achieving essential global goals: reducing inequalities in opportunities,  providing universal education, eradicating poverty, and ensuring affordable clean drinking water and accessible sanitation. The Gender Equality Project ensures gender equality at all levels and every step of life through workshops, seminars, and support group sessions. They even conduct events that promote systematic awareness on gender equality sensitisation, LGBTQIA+ awareness, empowerment and leadership programs for women and other marginalised communities, and are a Commitment Marker to the Action Coalition to the UN Women’s Generation Equality Project. In fact, we are proud to say we have achieved our commitments ahead of schedule

The Gender Equality Workshop aims to equip people with a better understanding of gender, violence, impact of gender discrimination and gender based violence, intersectionality, equality, and the SDGs via a mindfully catered curriculum to create more informed and intersectional feminists to facilitate collective action. Having hosted over 2000+ students – from schools and colleges and teachers- it helps everyone unlearn the heteronormative patriarchal notions and relearn inclusivity with an open mind.

HFSW’s Gender Equality Workshop

HFSW has undertaken the Pride Project to create a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community, and to educate and address misconceptions and stigmas surrounding the community. By breaking down several myths and highlighting the unjust struggles faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, HFSW continues to create awareness starting with how sexual orientation and gender identity is fluid, and how cisheteronormativity is not congenital.

As part of the project, the HFSW Pride Logo was unveiled and observing the Pride calendar, each day denoting a specific identity was acknowledged, and celebrated. Additionally, definitions and insights into different gender identities, and sexual orientations were provided to spread awareness on the spectrum of labels that are open to people. Several open letters were penned to fictional LGBTQIA+ couples by our viewers, and these letters were published on the Instagram page.

HFSW also provides counselling, medical consultation, guided imagery and/or meditation to women (for gender-based violence, financial difficulty, disability, etc.) and persons in the LGBTQIA+ community for empowerment and youth leadership facilitation. Our Instagram page is devoted to digital media advocacy on human rights, mental health and sustainability.
